Legajo 1551. 1800. Correspondencia con el gobernador de las Floridas. (Someruelos 18; Capitanes Generales 503.) B, 35 cm., 572 documents. The letters cover the months of jan.-nov., 1800. They are arranged in order by months, those of each governor being together within the months. The legajo consists of letters to Marqués de Someruelos, captain general of Cuba, from: 1800, jan. 8-nov. 18. Marqués de Casa Calvo, governor of Luisiana, nos. 16-42, 44-147, except (indexes only) nos. 31, 139. Series continued in legajo 1552; see legajo 1550; cf. legajos 140, 154-3. 1800, jan. 2-nov. 28. Enrique White, governor of Florida Oriental, nos. 259-266, 268-284, 287-307, 309-328. Series continued in legajos 1552-1569; see legajo 1550. 1800, feb. 19-sept. 22. Some of the above letters are accompanied by drafts of replies, and there are a few other drafts of the captain general to the governors. Subjects treated by Casa Calvo: Losses suffered by Panton and company; conflict of authority between Daunoy and Risel; difficulty in selecting a fiscal in the case against the officers who surrendered San Marcos. Most of the letters transmit petitions and military reports, acknowledge the receipt of royal orders, and deal with the transfer of soldiers and prisoners.
